Thirty-five tribal militants with alleged links to al Qaeda signed a peace deal with authorities, pledging not to harbour foreign militants, officials said on Tuesday.

The agreement, brokered by local religious leaders and tribal elders, came two months after a bloody operation by troops in the North Waziristan region, a senior official said.
